ill Manors Trailer Review

The typical key codes of movie trailers :

  • Production logo
  • Distribution logo
  • Plot summary
  • Voice over
  • Cast/credit/studio/ information
  • Title of the movie
  • Stars shown often
We are able to identify these seven key features in the ill Manors trailers. We are shown the cast of ill Manors multiple time through out the trailer. This allows the audience to be familiar with the casting of the movie and identify the prognostic and antagonist of the story. The title of the movie is shown towards the end of the movie. However, a voice over isn't commonly used in films like previously in the early 2000's where they were largely common among trailers. We are also shown the production logo which is 'Enterprises' and the distribution logo is more shown seconds before that. We are given a small fraction of the plot during the trailer. We as the audience can make out a brief understanding of what characters are the most important and the ones that are the least. We are presented with the studio information towards the end of the trailer of ill manors. Furthermore, we are presented with a voice over however, it's taken from the movie and edited into the trailer clip.

I would primarily say that the target audience for ill manors is 15 -35 year olds. The reason for this is because many teens in the UK find UK crime/gang culture interesting in the way they are presented. Even though this movie has a certificate of 18 it will still gain young viewers.  One unique selling point of the movie is that there is a soundtrack introducing the characters, the environment  and the back story of the characters. In addition, as the audience are already familiar with the the Director "Plan B"  this allows his fans from his musical career to now follow his movie career as a directors. The genre of the film is a thriller, drama. The environment it's been filmed in is fairly run down. We are shown houses that can't be called genuine houses due to the fact that it's completely demolished. In addition, the facial expression of the characters throughout the trailer are serious therefore, contributing to genre of thriller.
